How this works: The feed for your last.fm profile is polled every 8000 seconds (that's roughly every 2-1/2 hours), and cached. The playcount number displayed is retrieved from the cached feed. Due to the caching, and the fact that last.fm also has to update the feed, the number in the image might be slightly lower than the 'running' playcount that is displayed on your last.fm page. If you scrobble and your image gets hits, the number will change. Trust me!
